How should a mediator respond when one party makes a statement they experience as a biased comment? If you are selected as mediator based on one of your visible identities, how might you “counteract” the impression that you might be more empathetic to the side that shares your identity? What should a mediator say, if anything, when a party makes a statement that assumes you share their stereotypical thinking? These and other challenging scenarios will be explored in this lunchtime Zoom conversation. BLC’s Audrey Lee, David Hoffman & Matt Thompson will facilitate discussion and brainstorming on these topics. Attendees are welcome to share scenarios beforehand or to bring scenarios to the lunchtime conversation.
