Assessing Workplace Bias in the Era of #MeToo and Black Lives Matter

October 15, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Assessing Workplace Bias in the Era of #MeToo and Black Lives Matter: Understanding Root Causes and Conducting Cultural Assessments

Equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination laws have been on the books nationally since 1964, yet recent social movements from #MeToo and to Black Lives Matter have shown that decades of employment policies around these laws have been ineffective in eliminating bias at work. Likewise, traditional D&I initiatives have fallen short of measurable progress. This program focuses on why this is, covering the 4 levels of bias which intersect at the workplace. We will also cover best practices to determine the actual experiences of underrepresented groups in a particular business.

Workshop leader Jody Newman, Esq., who is Of Counsel at Boston Law Collaborative, has been a leading employment lawyer in Boston for more than 35 years, representing both employees and employers, and has broad experience in independent workplace assessments and investigations and as a mediator. This program has been designed for and will be delivered on Zoom.

A link will be emailed to all registrants the day before the program. For any questions, please email BLCI Administrator, Jenna Goodman at Jgoodman@blc.law.
