Using mediation scenarios, Audrey Lee will lead a discussion of when and how mediators may address bias and stereotypes in the mediation process. Is the choice to address a biased comment an individual one for the mediator or do mediators have a heightened obligation to do so in order to create a space for all involved to participate fully? When might the “intervening” mediator appear to or actually lose their neutrality vis-à-vis the mediation participants? Please bring your ideas, questions and experiences to contribute to the discussion.
